National not-for-profit motionball for Special Olympics announced its 2024 Marathon of Sport Halifax will take place on Sunday, September 22, from 9 am to 4 pm at the Canada Games Centre in Bayer’s Lake.

The annual event will host sixteen teams participating in a variety of sports, including basketball, giant pong, ultimate frisbee, bench ball, volleyball, soccer, and bocce ball, taking over the Canada Games Centre.

Teams from around the HRM will fundraise before the event with the overall goal of raising $60,000 net for the Special Olympics. Marathon of Sport not only brings awareness to the Special Olympics movement but also allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build lifelong friendships, and ultimately create more inclusive communities. The funds raised through this year’s Marathon of Sport will ensure Special Olympics athletes have the resources to stay active and compete in the sports they love on a national and international level.

This year, attendees will have the chance to play alongside this year’s motionball Halifax Honorary Athlete, Matt Walsh.
