Don’t underestimate the power of anger.

Almost 50 years after a man received a Christmas gift from his high school girlfriend, he FINALLY opened it to see what it was.

Pearce received the present in 1970 from his high school sweetheart, Vicki Allen … when she broke up with him … around Christmas Eve. The man vowed never to open it, until this year when his ex-girlfriend opened it for him.

The irony is too real … it turned out to be a book about love!

To rewind a little bit …

Pearce was given the gift by Vicki who left him in 1970 for an older boy nicknamed “Wolfie,” and gave him the gift as a little goodbye present.

In December of 2017, he wrote a Facebook post about it, describing the incident, and he says he tried to reach out to Vicki once it was clear that the story was taking off … but, alas, no luck tracking her down (and a few out-of-service numbers).

Flash forward to now, and Pearce found Vicki, and has even written a book about the long-unopened present titled “The 47 Year Old Present.”

Pearce and Allen were both at the official opening, which was hosted at Gracie Jane’s, and TICKETS WERE AVAILABLE online for $5 a head, with all proceeds going towards the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton.

And just so you know, Pearce is married with kids. He held onto the gift, but no grudge.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, INDEED!
