Did you know that 1 in 5 kids are affected by bullying?

Today (Wednesday February 27th) is pink shirt day. A day to wear your pink loud and proud to show that you will NOT tolerate bullying.

The initiative started back in 2007, after two high school students in Nova Scotia witnessed a grade 9 boy being bullied for wearing a pink polo shirt on his first day of school calling him names and threatening to beat him up based on the colour of his shirt.

Upset over how the boy was treated, the students went out a bought pink t-shirts and asked their classmates to also wear pink to promote anti-bullying that they dubbed a ‘sea of pink’. The next day hundreds of students showed up wearing their pink, which has now become an annual event for students (and people in general) across Canada!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

Simply wear pink! It can be a t-shirt, pink in your hair, an accessory, etc. Dress up or down head to toe or just one simple piece of clothing.

You can also post your pink online using the hashtags #PinkShirtDay and/or #PinkItForward and show off your support!

Remember to wear your pink and help take a stand against bullying! For more about Pink Shirt Day, find it HERE
