Education:

Halifax Regional Centre for Education: Schools are back in session on Tuesday…
“All HRCE schools will be open on Tues., Feb. 6, 2024. HRCE’s Operations Team has been working hard to clear snow & create safe passageways following the storm. If anything changes overnight, families will be notified by 6 a.m.”

NS HEALTH AUTHORITY: Nova Scotia Health is advising that some non-emergency services have been reduced in Eastern, Northern and Central zones due to the ongoing heavy snow in parts of the province and poor road conditions in many areas. For a full service update visit HERE

Transportation 

Residents are reminded that regardless of the status of an overnight winter parking ban, or whether you have received a notification, vehicles can be towed, day or night, at any time of year, if they are interfering with snow-clearing operations, as per Section 139 of the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.

Residents are strongly encouraged to continue to park off-street to allow crews to clear snow as efficiently as possible.

Solid Waste

Curbside collection of solid waste scheduled for Monday, February 5 is cancelled due to the winter storm. Recovery for February 5 collection will instead occur on Saturday, February 10.

Curbside garbage limits will be relaxed for Saturday, February 10 and Monday, February 12 for the missed collection days.

Please retrieve any waste you have placed for collection so as not to interfere with snow clearing operations.

The permanent Household Special Waste Depot located at 20 Horseshoe Lake Drive will be closed on Saturday, February 10.

The Municipal Recycling Facility located at 20 Horseshoe Lake Drive will be closed today, Monday, February 5.

Parks and Recreation

A decision will be made at 7 p.m. Monday regarding opening times for Tuesday. Please call your local Recreation Centre for further information.
