WET NOSE WEDNESDAY brought to you by Race Auto Group

BONDED BESTIES. Meet Indie and Dupont! These two have a love story we cannot wait to share. Unknown to us what their previous history or life was, Dupont and Indie were seen roaming the streets together.

Nervous of humans they kept each other company many a night while help was attempting to bring them in. Dupont being more fearful than Indie, was caught in a kennel all the while Indie choosing to stay by his side.

Once in the care of the SPCA they continued to want to be together, looking to one another for support. Indie, a six-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, is a soft and gentle giant, only taking a day to warm up to the staff. She is known as our delicate flower as sudden changes can off set her personality taking her some time to recover. She has a spunky side and often gets the zoomies, chase after the occasional toy and jump all over you!

Dupont, the five year old lab mix, on the other hand took a bit longer for us to gain his trust. It took Indie in order for him to know we were something safe he could open up to. He is still weary of strangers and chooses who he trusts. Once Dupont knows you his personality truly shines through – he loves to zoom around the yard with Indie, gives his favourite people love nibbles and enjoys being scritched on the bum and behind the ears.

They love to wrestle and chase each other and can often be found sleeping near one another outside after a good play session. Both dogs can be leashed and harnessed by staff but this may take a bit longer once in a home environment that they are not use to. Indie is true to her nature and walks slowly on lead with Dupont at the front. Indie is a livestock guardian breed and potential adopters should do some research on this specific breed prior to meeting her.

Being fearful they are going to require someone who understands what it takes to gain a dog’s trust. Both dogs would not be suitable for apartment living or busy households. These dogs have been each others support system through everything and we hope to find a home for both of them together!
