We’re not ALL fans of Valentine’s Day … besides the chocolate, cards, tv-episodes and of course, the colour red that we look best in.

This one is for you, Mr. or Ms. Lonely Heart!

This is a list of the best ANTI-Rom Com movies you can watch on Netflix tonight, curled up with your popcorn and pizza (that you bought YOURSELF, you strong, independent you!)

1. Heathers

B***** teens? That definitely screams the opposite of rom-com!

Synopsis: The ’80s classic never gets old. It’s a story about climbing to the top of the high school hierarchy which just so happens to feature one of movie history’s deadliest and most dysfunctional couples. Watch as Winona Ryder’s Veronica becomes infatuated with resident bad boy J.D., only to realize he’s way too unstable to be anyone’s steady. By the time the credits role, you will be high on girl power as Veronica conquers the cutthroat world of high school all on her own.

2. The Sinner

Who doesn’t love (sorry, ADORE), a show that is based on murder …. to watch on Valentine’s Day.

Synopsis: Detective Harry Ambrose returns to his hometown in rural New York to assess an unsettling and heart-wrenching crime — parents murdered by their 11-year-old son with no apparent motive. As Ambrose realizes there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown. He’s pitted against those who will stop at nothing to protect its secrets — and the mysterious Vera, who proves to be a complicated, enigmatic piece to this haunting puzzle.

3. Ozark

Speaking of murder … and drugs … and our man Jason Bateman.

Synopsis: Created by Bill Dubuque (“The Accountant,” “The Judge”), this drama series stars Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde, a financial planner who relocates his family from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. With wife Wendy and their two kids in tow, Marty is on the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe. While the Byrdes’ fate hangs in the balance, the dire circumstances force the fractured family to reconnect.

4. Homeland

YES, YES, YES!

Let’s put aside the “lovey dovey” things for Homeland Security, war and destruction! With witty dialogue and a perfectly cast-show … this one is a MUST.

Ps. 7 SEASONS, BABY! BINGE, BINGE, BINGE.

Synopsis: When Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody returns home following eight years in captivity, CIA agent Carrie Mathison thinks he has turned and is connected to a terror plot to be carried out on American soil, so she engages him in a dangerous game of cat and mouse that puts America’s national security at risk. Later on, Carrie gets a promotion and returns to the front lines overseas. She is assigned to one of the CIA’s most volatile and dangerous stations in the Middle East, where she is in the heart of battle in the war on terror. Years later, after being disillusioned and placing herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, Carrie becomes estranged from the CIA, eventually returning stateside where she works for a foundation providing aid to Muslims living in America.

5. Brooklyn Nine Nine

A personal favourite of ours … Andy Samberg and Terry Crews all wrapped into one? YES PLEASE!!

No, this isn’t the trailer for it … but trust us, after this … you’ll want to watch every. single. second.

Synopsis: Detective Jake Peralta, a talented and carefree cop with the best arrest record, has never had to follow the rules too closely or work very hard. That changes when Ray Holt, a man with a lot to prove, becomes the new commanding officer of Brooklyn’s 99th precinct. As Holt reminds Peralta to respect the badge, an extremely competitive colleague – Detective Amy Santiago – starts to close in on the hotshot cop’s arrest record. Other members of the precinct include Sgt Terry Jeffords, a devoted family man, Detective Charles Boyle, a hard worker who idolizes Jake, and Rosa Diaz, a sexy-yet-intimidating detective. Civilian office manager Gina Linetti is tasked with cleaning up everyone’s mess, while somehow getting involved in everyone’s business.
