Just when you thought things couldn’t get weirder, leave it to Halifax to setup a live feed of spinning Donair meat.

While Döner kebab has been around for quite some time, a variation known as “donair” was introduced in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in the early 1970s by Peter Gamoulakos, who migrated to Canada in 1959. When he failed in his attempt to sell traditional gyros, Gamoulakos adapted the dish to local tastes. He substituted beef for lamb and created a sweet sauce known as “donair sauce”. Gamoulakos created the donair in 1973.

In 2015 Halifax named donair the official food of the city. This live feed is setup at the King of Donair restaurant in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
